Decathlon is a sports retail company that designs, manufactures and sells all the equipment you need to practice a variety of sporting activities. From popular sports like football and running to more niche ones such as archery or horse riding, the app allows users to browse through the brand’s 70+ sports and 5,000+ products to find what they need to get play-ready.

As the world’s largest sports retailer, Decathlon wanted to address real estate constraints in their physical stores and increase customer’s product visibility in-store. To do so, they integrated Scandit’s barcode scanning software with their customer app to create a self-checkout and cashless mobile shopping experience that was both easy and convenient for customers. They also used the customer app to encourage omnichannel sales, reduce in-store queues and improve inventory management by tracking inventory across channels.

The customer app also helped the brand to increase orders through digital channels by over 25 percent, eliminate in-store queues, and reduce shrinkage due to stock unavailability owing to real estate constraints. Moreover, the app allowed Decathlon to increase the number of products they could sell per store, while decreasing the amount of merchandise that needed to be held in warehouses and trucks.

The Decathlon app also allows users to track their bike in real-time and to create virtual geofences to protect it from theft. Its Decathlon Camp feature enables users to easily choose their desired tent or shelter model by simply adding them to their Favorites, which they can then watch videos of without the need for internet connectivity.
